DEI is corporate-speak for programs meant to tick boxes: hiring “diverse” employees based on demographics over merit, rolling out inclusion training sessions, and implementing equity policies that prioritize representation. On paper, it sounds virtuous and progressive. In practice, it often devolves into fancy committees, lofty mission statements, PR-friendly visuals without real impact and worse, it frequently leads to unqualified individuals landing positions of power simply to meet quotas, undermining competence and true fairness.
