Tillamook is a farmer-owned cooperative from Oregon that’s been making dairy products since 1909. While larger than the others, it still carries that down-to-earth co-op attitude, owned by farmers, not by activists. Their yogurt, ice cream, and cheese are made with quality milk and community pride, not ideological buzzwords. They focus on taste, tradition, and transparency rather than teaching customers how to think.
Tillamook is not known for engaging in overt political or cultural activism. While the company promotes environmental sustainability and has earned awards tied to DEI and ESG efforts, there is no evidence of any LGBTQ or BLM activism in its public campaigns or branding. Its focus remains largely on farm stewardship, quality production, and community programs rather than social agendas. Still, because Tillamook incorporates ESG and DEI language into its reports, it should be viewed as moderately low-risk, more interested in good cheese than culture wars, but not completely untouched by corporate trend-speak.
Many dairy and yogurt companies that still focus on honest food instead of politics are small, local, or regional. If the ones listed here aren’t available in your area, we encourage you to look up local farms, family dairies, and small creameries near you, and submit them to us for review. It is time to stop giving your money to giant corporations that spend more on “social impact statements” than product quality. Eat local, buy from people who share your values, and enjoy the added benefit of knowing your yogurt didn’t come with a lecture. Eating local is better for your health, your community, and your peace of mind.
